Frieze, New York: Monochrome Styling

Held from May 10-13 2013, the second New York edition of the London-based Frieze Art Fair presented more than 180 of the world’s leading galleries. Layered trans-seasonal dressing emerged as the overriding theme as Manhattan’s weather flitted between the first signs of summer and torrential rain.

Vivid brights were confined to the artworks as head-to-toe monochrome teamed with practical flats emerged as something of an art-fair uniform. Perfect for the change in seasons, black cropped biker-style leather jackets were seen in abundance layered over lightweight sheers. Masculine flats dominated footwear, with quirky styles including skeleton footprint velvet slippers.
