Couture A/W 13-14: Chanel Beauty

Luxury Parisian label Chanel used a derelict movie theatre as the stage for its epic sci-fi couture show yesterday, with hair, make-up and accessories proving highlights from yet another extravaganza from the mind of creative director Karl Lagerfeld.

The hair in particular grabbed our attention as square-top half-chignons made for a dramatic vision. The high, central-parted up-dos were finished off with a ponytail, while a half-halo hairband provided detail when viewed from the back. There was also some striking millinery on offer, with embellished boaters-come-caps placed at the back of the head for a look that married retro girlishness with contemporary streetwear.

Thick, matte brows further strengthened the look, while rosy blush was taken from the cheek bone round to the temple for an update on a peachy glow.
