NY Fashion Week: Asymmetric Hems

As seen at autumn/winter 2011-12 New York Fashion Week, the asymmetric hem continues to be a dominant trend.

Updated for the new season, the hem is routinely shorter at the front than the back – and no longer confined to tops and skirts, but applied across the board to eveningwear and outerwear as well.

Vera Wang (pictured above left) used gently cascading pleats to create a round, fluid hem, while Altuzarra (pictured above right) incorporated a colour-blocked lining with a heavily stepped, angular silhouette.
