New Work from Antony Micallef

British artist Antony Micallef is currently showing his most recent collection of works, titled Happy, Deep Inside My Heart, at Lazarides Rathbone, London. A sickly sweet palette and child-like gestures contrast dark subject matters to create what the artist describes as “a cocktail of chromatic perversion”.

Choosing to work in semi-saturated and pastel hues, often combined with areas of dark tonal textures, Micallef’s choice of colours creates a tension between themes of decay and corruption, and innocence.

The exhibition runs until 22 October 2011.
