Womenswear A/W 13-14: Luxe Plaid

Seen on London’s catwalks and now spotted on the streets of Milan, heritage plaids get a luxe update in high-shine fabrics for Autumn/Winter 2013-14.

Distinctly London in its nod to heritage fabrics and tweed-inspired patterns, the trend is reflective of the glam update on grunge happening across the catwalks since last season as fashion continues its 90s revival. Two very different London-based brands championed the direction during last week’s London Fashion Week shows. Mulberry showed an oversized check using glossy pailettes, while youth-focused Ashish took an elegant turn with its sequined slip dress in houndstooth print.

Milan Fashion Week concludes tomorrow (February 26). See our coverage of New York Fashion Week as well as street style reports from the Menswear and Couture shows for more seasonal trends.
