StartupBus at SXSW

StartupBus is a collaboration of doers and thinkers who brainstorm business start-up ideas on a bus. Their challenge is to team up, conceive an idea, build a prototype website, and create a pitch for a panel of judges.

Launched in 2010 as a beer-infused bus journey from San Francisco to the South by Southwest (SXSW) film, music and interactive festival in Austin, Texas, it’s back for a second year, with many more ‘buspreneurs’.

StartupBuses departed from six cities including San Francisco, New York and Cleveland and began the adventure to Austin, Texas for SXSW 2011.

After three days crammed in their buses, the winners have been announced –TripMedi and WalkIn.

WalkIn is a restaurant check-in system that allows diners to scan a QR code at the front desk. You are then sent an alert when your table is ready. Tripmedi is a navigational system for tourists who are looking for medical treatments abroad.

SXSW runs from March 11-20 2011.
