Still Life at The Zuiderzee

An hour’s drive north of Amsterdam will take you to the small town of Enkhuizen where a slice of 19th century Dutch life still reigns. The Zuiderzee Outdoor Museum is a preserved village which depicts the life and industry of a 19th century fishing community.

The extensive terrain, jutting into the North Sea, is comprised of more than a hundred historical homes, schools, churches, stores windmills and smokehouses. Abundant in historical detail, the atmospheric village provides rich visual inspiration with its craft aesthetic and painterly interiors.
