Hair Colour Trend: Golden Locks

One of the latest directions to emerge in beauty is metallic hair colour and high-shine tones – a development from ombré and dip-dye hair. After fast-fashion retailer Topshop showed gold leaf-encrusted hair as part of its Spring/Summer 2012 catwalk show, the look has appeared in various editorials. Innovative hair salon Bleach London is now taking the look to the streets.

Bleach founder Alex Brownsell has developed iridescent highlights and colour that suggest an apocalyptic mood. While the final effect is still in development, high-shine colour looks set to go mainstream soon. Grey hair is already proving popular in the youth sector, and this metallic direction promises a futuristic update from grey to silver for the upcoming season.

The look strongly relates to Stylus’ Human+ concept for S/S 2013. Check out the womenswear styling reports for more examples of this high-shine aesthetic.
