Uplifted Lampshades by Deryn Relph

Bound to catch one’s eye at the One Year On exhibition – part of the New Designers graduate design shows beginning later this month in London – are the brightly knitted Uplifted lampshades by British textile designer Deryn Relph.

As a child of the late sixties/early seventies, Relph takes great inspiration from the nostalgic ‘retro’ influence of the time and the ‘make do and mend’ attitude of her parents, combining bright colours and complex knitting techniques to up-cycle and revive furniture.

New Designers 2011 at the Business Design Centre, London is being staged in two parts: Part 1: June 29 to July 2 2011; and Part 2: July 6-9 2011.
