Guest Chef

Guest Chef is a permanent eatery in Oakland, San Francisco with a rotating roster of cooking talent.

Owned by property developer Scott Cameron, the 20-seater restaurant lets an established or emerging chef run the fully stocked kitchen and the three-person staff for a fortnight. The two-week window gives chefs the chance to showcase their culinary skills, and if they turn out to be a storming success, Cameron will work with them to set up shop in a permanent location.

The current economic climate is breeding a host of fresh and innovative business models. Guest Chef is a risk-free way to road test a previously unforeseeable culinary dream. It also gives consumers a reason to keep coming back.
