Prada: Made In

Mario Prada, the founder of the luxury Italian brand, was often referred to as a gentleman-connoisseur for his pursuit of the finest materials and most sophisticated craftsmanship.

In a nod to these ideals – and in what Miuccia Prada has called "a political statement that comes from a personal appreciation of originality" – Prada has created a Made-in series, which salutes the local artisans and craftsmen with whom the brand have collaborated with globally.

The series – sold in its stores – includes pieces made using techniques and materials native to the selected region. Thus, Made in Scotland consists of traditional wool knits, Made in India showcases Chikan (traditional Indian embroidery), while Made in Peru presents alpaca wool and Made in Japan will focus on denim. More countries to follow.
