Danish Crafts at Maison&Objet

Danish Crafts – an independent collective marketing Danish design products – will launch their new collection of 31 design items at Paris lifestyle trade fair Maison&Objet, starting today.

Titled the Crafts Collection 15, this year’s collection draws inspiration from the past in creating new lines of work, reflected in the choice of materials and techniques as well as in the titles of the works and memories of lost time.

Granny Stool (pictured) by furniture designer Jonas Klein comprises both the seat and legs hand-milled on the lathe. The stool is a tribute to grandparents’ furniture, where the emphasis of furniture from that generation was on craftsmanship and detailing.

Like last year’s collection, CC15 is curated by London-based designer Nina Tolstrup. All the products in Crafts Collection 15 have been designed and produced in Denmark by 26 of the country’s leading ceramicists, jewelers, textile and glass artists and furniture designers.

The collection is on display in Hall 7 at Maison&Objet. The fair runs from September 9 – 13, 2011.
