Denny’s Always Open

American family restaurant chain Denny’s has released its own web-based comedy series Always Open, featuring popular comedy actor David Koechner as host.

It’s aimed to position the restaurant chain as a friendly and welcoming environment that is “Always Open”. The series is filmed in a working Denny’s diner and features different celebrities in conversion with Koechner over a Denny’s meal.

The debut show with guest actor Jason Bateman runs for three minutes. Despite the short running time, it has the aesthetic of a reality-TV comedy show rather than that of a conventional commercial.

This venture makes great use of the ability of short films to market and push brands into a wider arena.
