Emil Kozak: Big Black Nothing

Barcelona-based artist Emil Kozak captures soft-edged shadows in his ethereal Big Black Nothing photography series, in which he explores the boundaries of darkness outdoors. Eerie yet beautifully shot, the images echo the Silence of Shadows graduate collection by Seoul-born womenswear designer Jin Kay, presented in July 2012 – the designs explore the diverse qualities of dark shadows through fashion.

For more on the increased use of black among creatives and the shift towards matt soft-touch finishes across product and design, read our report, Into the Black.
